Privacy notice
Last updated 21 October 2026. This notice describes the implemented application and needs the project owner’s review before a public launch.
What is stored
When account services are enabled, Supabase stores account credentials and identifiers, profile details, saved locations, bookmarks, learning records, observation journals, uploaded images, event reminders and community contributions. Private records are restricted to their owner through database policies. Administrators can read messages and reports and moderate public submissions.
Your location
Geolocation is requested only when you press the location button. The selected position is kept in the current page session. Exact coordinates are saved only when you save a location or observing session. A shared sky-map link includes its coordinates; check them before sharing.
Providers and local storage
Vercel hosts the application. Supabase supplies configured account and storage services. Weather coordinates are sent through the server to Open-Meteo when forecasts are enabled. NASA provides public content. Theme preference is stored locally; login uses secure, HTTP-only cookies. The offline cache contains a public fallback page, not private account data. No advertising or analytics trackers are included.
Your choices
Profile settings let you choose notification preferences. Account settings support a data export and an account-deletion workflow when secure service credentials are configured. Shared public discussions are removed with the account; audit records can retain an actor identifier for security review. Backup retention depends on provider configuration.
Contact the project owner through the contact form for privacy requests once submissions are enabled. The owner must provide a direct privacy contact and retention schedule before wider public use.
